Fry-B-Q Tofu or Seitan
Here’s a quick and easy way to get a barbequed taste without the barbeque. This is my kids’ favourite way to eat tofu, by a long shot.
1 lb extra-firm tofu, cut into 1″ thick slices, or 1 lb seitan “steaks”
4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1/2 cup barbeque sauce
Heat the olive oil in a deep, heavy skillet, and add the tofu slices or seitan steaks. Cook until well-browned on both sides. With the heat on medium, quickly stir in the barbeque sauce and toss the tofu or seitan in this for several minutes, until the barbeque sauce begins to caramelize. Serve hot, with traditional BBQ side dishes, like potato salad and corn on the cob.
